CO2 Targets of Healthcare Companies

The healthcare industry is making progress towards being more sustainable. Getinge is a leader in this field, as it nears its 2025 goal of becoming CO2 neutral, meaning that the company releases no CO2 emissions (or its emissions are compensated with certain activities). Other companies, such as GE Healthcare, will soon reach the feat as well.

Although there is still work to do, the steps some companies have taken are laudable. For instance:

  • Getinge has been lowering its energy consumption and increasing its recycling rates, among other initiatives.
  • Becton Dickinson (BD) now has 13 sites running on 100% renewable energy
  • Fisher & Paykel Healthcare now recycles 52% of its waste globally
